A natural Nigerian blue tourmaline.

This stone carries a dark blue-teal body color with an indicolite-leaning tone. The rectangular shape gives it a clean, architectural presence, while the pavilion is cut withfantasy pattern that pulls some flashes of blue light toward the center of the gem.

Because of the depth and darker color, the stone shifts dramatically depending on the lighting. Against a bright background, the blue opens up with more visible teal flash. Against the skin, it becomes moodier and more shadowed, with the fantasy pattern appearing as a subtle internal burst.

This piece contains a natural internal feather along one lower pavilion edge. It is mostly contained below the girdle and does not distract from the main face-up pattern, but it is part of the stone and should be considered when setting. A bezel or protected setting would suit it well.
