Dual Emerald Study — Colombian & Hydrothermal

A study in contrast, cut by hand.

This pair explores two distinct expressions of emerald—natural and grown—each approached with intention and respect for the material. Rather than forcing a single outcome, both stones were allowed to become what they naturally wanted to be.

An ideal entry point for collectors or first-time buyers looking to experience hand-cut emerald at a more accessible level

The first, a 1.2 carat Colombian emerald (9.4 × 9.7 mm), was cut entirely in water to preserve the integrity of the crystal. A very light oil was applied post-cutting to settle minor surface-reaching fractures—an accepted and traditional practice in emerald. The result is a bright, seafoam-toned stone with a lively, shifting presence that reveals its natural formation. Has one small Custer of fractures along the girdle in one corner. Structural sound as it survived the cutting and polishing process without flaking off. It doesnt worry me but should be aware for setting.

The second, a 4.0 carat hydrothermal emerald (11.2 × 9.1 mm), offers a deeper, more saturated green with exceptional clarity. This material allows for greater precision and freedom in the cutting process, enabling a more aggressive exploration of light through custom fantasy faceting.

Both stones are fully hand-cut from rough and finished with high-precision faceting, designed to interact dynamically with light and environment. Each represents a different philosophy of emerald.

Super clean 👌🏻. I did find one micro ship along the girdle when I was cleaning it. Its on the underside and cant really see it without loop.
